A number of years ago I started to noticing just a couple of phrases that really resonated with me. I wasn’t sure how to classify them, or what to call them. Thanks to Gretchen Rubin over at The Happiness Project I have now decided to refer to these phrases as “Personal Commandments”.
Here’s the first one:
Dwell Richly
This phrase first impacted me during a BSF study. In the Bible in Colossians 3:16 it says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
For some reason the idea of dwelling richly took hold of me. I started thinking about the idea of dwelling richly in my life. Dwelling richly in my home. Dwelling richly as a parent to my children.
Not just to live in, dwell in my life, but to dwell richly. That’s how I want to live.
For me, to dwell richly means that the things I choose to do in my life, I want to do them to the fullest. No half measures. I want to do everything to the best of my abilities, focus and energy.
So, my first personal commandment is to: Dwell Richly.
