Life begins the day you start a garden. – Chinese proverb
My gardening pilgrimage started in the summer of 2010. I got a notice that the town where I lived was establishing a community garden. Outside activities had always been a draw for me and I was interested in gardening and didn’t know where to get started. This was the perfect opportunity. It was walking distance to my house and I felt like being surrounded by fellow gardeners would be a good training ground.

Before I knew it, I felt like I needed another garden bed so I built one in our back yard. Not long after that, I built another one. Then I made planting spots in used tires. When we moved I made sure I had a big enough back yard that I had plenty of rooms for garden beds. Fast forward to today when I have not only the five garden beds and 2 fruit trees, now I have 13.25 acres where I am currently working on a garden area with 25 raised bed gardens. Will I need more? Time will tell.
